Hey old friends and new readers!
Today I took a break from parenting advice to guest post over at Scary Mommy. I decided to talk about life with a rock & roll husband instead. Please take a look around while you’re there. Scary Mommy is a great place to be! Back to the regularly scheduled parenting advice tomorrow…

Thanks, as always, for spending some time at Practical Parenting. I truly appreciate the kind comments and support.

I just got the Scary Mommy in my mail, it’s funny to read this… I’ve been in a relationship with a DJ for the past 20 years.
and yes he is also a metrosexual, he does the laundry (I’m not allowed to touch the laundry since I shrunk one of his favorite woolen sweaters…) and buys great gifts when he’s on an abroad business trip.
I totally recognize that feeling of loving to see him in his element and at the same time hating (or at least not liking… hate is a strong word) certain parts of it, for me it was also the parties, the “fake”-ness of the night scene, the drinking,… but I still love him regardless of it all.
He “retired” a couple of years ago, but occasionally still does a gig.
He’s now thrown himself on a business manager career… works long hours, often gone to late networking events… while I stay home with our 3-year old son. And yes I still love him
Thanks for sharing!
I’m over from Scary Mommy. Your guest post was great! Just last week I wrote about my husband the Rockstar……accept his only claim to fame is that he can play mean drum solo on Band Hero.
I can empathize with being alone a lot. My husband is military and we’ve endured consistent separation. Although the last couple of years, less so. I admire any woman who does it on her own all the time – because I’ve been there for 3-4 month stretches on and off, and it’s hard enough. The anxiety at night thing – I could only battle that with arming the alarm, leaving on lights and distraction via Grey’s Anatomy or blogs.
You are the real rockstar in the family. Now if I could get your husband to give my husband the metrosexual lifestyle tips – I would love a housecleaner who does the laundry. I get occasional glimpses of that….he get’s better with age and years of marriage under the belt.
I read the article and loved it. it was really interesting and fun! I bet you do get sick of all the questions!
Hey!! I married a metrosexual and I can’t even get him to make me toast..LOL But, I do get great shoes and purses. Oh and a great co-shopper when it comes to furniture. Loved the guest post!
Girl, I love you. And your post over at Scary Mommy was excellent. It totally resonated with me! Hubby is gone a lot with the military (like months at a time…he leaves for a year in a couple months). What a great post!!
Heading over to read your post now. Thanks for linking up to Bee Friendly!
Going to check it out!
